Re-established in 1953 after six generations of the same family recipe, Bill Samuels Snr introduced the use of red winter wheat to produce a kinder, gentler tasting bourbon. It was named Maker's Mark by Bill's wife Marjorie as a guarantee of its quality. Maker's Mark is an incredibly smooth bourbon, it's has a light, spicy flavour with a hint of butterscotch and vanilla. Maker's Mark is the original hand crafted bourbon made in small batches of 19 barrels at a time; each bottle is hand-dipped in the iconic red wax making no two bottles exactly alike. Maker' Mark is America's only handmade bourbon whisky-never mass produced.Each individual batch is less than 19 barrels, and this small quantity means we can be choosy about everything we use and everything we do to craft our whisky. That's why we use the old-style sour-mash method. We start each new batch fermentation by using a little of the last, resulting in a more consistent product.
