This Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is partially finished in red wine casks, it has notes of cherries and dried fruit, while also delivering characteristic bourbon flavors of vanilla and charred oak. This versatile and complex liquid is best served in aperitif-style sipping cocktails. The signature serve is the 19th Century Cocktail, where it is shaken over ice with Lillet Rouge®, Crème de Cacao® and fresh lemon juice. To make this limited edition whiskey, we blend the classic Basil Hayden high-rye mash bill and bourbon partially aged in Californian red wine casks. It then spends a portion of its aging time in wine casks sourced from California, imparting the bright dried fruit notes that give this limited edition spirit its unique flavor. Perfectly balanced, Basil Hayden Red Wine Cask Finish is layered & complex, yet approachable & inviting. This taps into the legacy of the Basil Hayden brand, created by Booker Noe in 1992 as part of the Small Batch collection. Intended to showcase the bourbon’s more subtle side, it uses a high-rye mash bill for a more refined taste profile.
