Since 1999, the Distinguished Sites wines have celebrated the distinctive personalities of Howard Park’s best Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon from Margaret River and the Great Southern. Each Distinguished Sites wine is finely crafted and highly collectable, with a cellaring life of at least a decade. In the temperate climate of Margaret River, Cabernet Sauvignon is at home. Here the maritime influences temper the extremes of seasons, and allow Cabernet Sauvignon to thrive. Howard Park Leston Cabernet Sauvignon exudes the classic Cabernet characters. Eucalyptus, tobacco, black olive, dusty cocoa, and freshly ground coffee lay atop layers of rich red and black fruits forming a tantalising bouquet. Black currant, cherry, pomegranate and plum on the nose are mirrored on the palate complemented by savoury herbs, graphite, and black liquorice. The smooth, velvety fruit texture is balanced by a tart cranberry-like acidity and a pliable tannin structure. The fruit richness and opulence at the heart of this wine will only continue to develop with age, however, it is drinking wonderfully now.
